Louisville City has bolstered their defensive depth with the signing of Ramzi Qawasmy (Twitter, Instagram). The 23-year-old Landsdale, PA native is a recent grad from Providence College. In five seasons, he started in all 88 of his appearances and netted seven goals, four of which were in 2022. He earned several accolades in his final season, including Preseason All-BIG EAST, Preseason Co-Defensive Player of the Year, United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men’s Players To Watch List -Defenders, 2022 Hermann Trophy Watch List For Men’s Soccer, BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 3, 2022), and All-BIG EAST Second Team. Along with his collegiate play, he also played with West Chester United SC in USL League 2.

“We have had Ramzi in on trial over the last few weeks, and he has done an excellent job playing a lot of minutes for us against tough competition,” said Coach Danny Cruz. “He is a physically strong center back who has a lot of quality on the ball. When we look at how he has integrated with the group and, most importantly, the type of person that he is, we feel he will be a great fit for us this year. His mentality, work rate and willingness to show up ready to learn every single day put him in a great position to be successful here.”

“It is a dream come true to sign my first professional contract, especially with Louisville City FC,” Qawasmy said. “Ever since I stepped into the team, my experience here has been nothing but exceptional. From the coaching staff, the players, along with the rest of those in the organization, everyone has made this place feel like home, which has helped me adapt in such a short amount of time. I have really enjoyed entering into a very successful organization and being surrounded by a club with a winning mentality. The guys have shown the standard of the club, and I cannot wait to continue to learn and add to it. I’m very excited to get started and help the club chase a championship.”

This signing is a win for everyone involved. While he will face some very stiff competition for minutes in Louisville City’s established backline, joining the club will offer him some great experience as he begins his journey into professional play. LouCity in return will get a young player coming off a successful collegiate career and hungry to make his mark. Excited to see what this young player can do making the leap from amateurs to the pros!
